Buenos Aires, with photos!

Since this week is “la semana de la primavera y del estudiante”, we almost don’t have any courses in the university, so a few other exchange students and I have taken the opportunity to go to Buenos Aires for an extended weekend. Unlike the first time, we have not gone to a hostel but were living in a very well-located apartment with really nice guys found through the couch-surfing network (Sebastian, if you read this, thanks again for your hospitality ;-) ). Unfortunately we have missed last week’s big demonstrations and protests against Christina Kirchner and her government, but anyway you can see some impressions of this trip at the end of this post …. I really like this lively and beautiful city, but I couldn’t stay there forever, as it is too big and chaotic for me!

Apart from that, there is not so much to tell. Everything is going on very fine and living here now feels quite common and normal to me. Of course, my visa application continues its never ending story because I was told that all the expensive English translations and apostilles done in Germany are still not enough and that they additionally want everything to be translated in Spanish by a registered office (probably the one from the father-in-law of the cousin of the secretary of the international relations coordinator :D ).

But this is luckily just a side note, since I can enjoy the important things of life. You can really feel that spring is coming and the weather gets sunnier and warmer. I continue going out for running and also to a cheap fitness center just in front of my pension. And as until now the studies are not that much, I also have the time to improve my knowledge about the Argentine language and culture by reading Marcos Aguinis “El atroz encanto de ser argentinos” and by watching the awesome TV-series “En terapia” and “Los Simuladores“, I think the latter is one of the best I’ve ever seen in my life :-)

    merci pour ce nouveau “Post” car même s’il n’est pas très long, c’est toujours aussi plaisant à lire et en plus cela m’a fait l’inattendue bonne surprise de presque comprendre l’article de ton journal local *sans* prendre de dictionnnaire (normal sur papier) ni de dict.leo.com ou trucs du genre sur internet. Ce que j’ai compris, c’est que les habitants de Tandil doivent éviter de prendre de l’eau courante car les pluies fortes des jours derniers (??ont sali les nappes s??) et il y a un virus gastrique intestinal très dangereux. Maintenant tu n’as plus qu’à me dire là où je me suis trompé :-)))
    La guerre des Malouines a eu lieu quand j’étais à l’université à Chicago. Déjà à la télé, les seules choses que je regardais étaient les informations (comme tu vois, ça n’a pas vraiment disparu…) et je m’en rappelle d’autant plus que parmi les étudiants étrangers avec qui j’étais souvent, il y avait une Argentine et un Écossais… Une des banderolles sur tes photos (d’ailleurs, est-ce toi le photographe??) est bonne pour apprendre les conjugaisons du verbe ‘être’ avec “Les Malouines seront, sont et étaient …”. J’espère que là aussi je ne me suis pas trop trompé..!!..
